Since the emergence of SDH and its variant from standards structure around 1990, have helped revolutionize the performance and cost of telecommunications networks base on optical fibers. SDH has provided transmission networks with a vendor-independent and sophisticated signal structure that has rich feature set. This result in new network applications, the development of new equipment in new network topologies, and management by operations systems of much greater power than previously seen in transmission network Nowadays, Optical fibers are used extensively for data transmission systems because of their dielectric nature and their large information-carrying capacity. Network architectures using multiple wavelength channels per optical fiber are utilized in local, metropolitan, or wide-area applications to connect thousands of users having a wide range of transmission capacities and speeds. A powerful aspect of an optical communication link is that many different wavelengths can be sent along a fiber simultaneously in the 1300-to-1600nm spectrum. The technology of combining a number of wavelengths onto the same fiber is known as wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). The concept of WDM used in conjunction with optical amplifiers has resulted in communication links that allow rapid communications between users in countries all over the world. One of the application of WDM concept can be found in the XDM platform. The XDM offers carriers unprecedented capacity, cost-savings, and ease of integration, placing it at the forefront of the optical networking revolution. For this project we use the XDM-1000 platform[9] which is optimized for operate from cities to cities or provinces to provinces and features unprecedented port densities that can be configurate to be use in multiple fields like serving as a signal repeater or an Add-Drop Multiplexer.vi
