The demand for robots has been dramatically increasing during recent decades. These high-tech machines not only can multiply the working speed and efficiency in some fields but also find their ways to normal entertainment and service sectors. Amongst various types of robots, transporting robots are playing an essential role in many enterprises of the logistics industry. Around the globe, different organizations and companies are consecutively trying to design and to manufacture automated robots for commercial purposes, while others are fascinating in using this technology for boosting the efficiency of business operations. For example, Amazon has installed and used an army of 15,000 robots across their warehouses in the US. These 320-pound automated machines are responsible for picking up and transporting packages to where they should be. Fascinated by the application and progress of this profession, we’re put plenty of efforts and time into making a simple robot that can be able to work effectively in real life. In particular, our robot is designed to be able to serve coffee and other beverages on the small scale of an office. What we have achieved so far is a prototype of the robot that can demonstrate the feasibility of the concept. It is a line-following robot that can transport a certain number of coffee cups (and other beverages) to each employee in an office. Working along with the robot is a website where users can order their beverages and a robotic arm which is designed to pick and put the cup of the beverage on the robot. The robot works quite accurately and stably in a low-noise environment, yet still needs many improvements to be more complete. Therefore, further developments are required for a commercial product.en_US
