Building a smart home system on cloud computing infrastructure

Abstract

The concept of Smart Home Technology has been here for a while; the main idea is to introduce networking devices and equipment in the house. "According to the Smart Homes Association, the best definition of smart home technology is the integration of technology and services through home networking for a better quality of living." (Rosslin John Robles, 2010). Many tools of computer systems are also integrated into Smart Home Systems. Smart homes are becoming increasingly popular in today’s digital world. From automated lights and thermostats to voice-controlled appliances and more, these systems offer convenience, efficiency, and increased security. However, setting up a smart home system can be a daunting task as there are many components involved and the complexity of cloud computing infrastructure is also a factor. In this thesis, we will provide an overview of what it takes to build a smart home system on cloud computing infrastructure. We will cover the hardware requirements, programming language considerations, and steps for integrating various services into one comprehensive system. Finally, we will discuss how to monitor performance and ensure privacy and security within the smart home ecosystem.
