dc.description.abstractThe vacation rental market continues to grow, fueled by tech innovation including smart home technology, which delivers a better, more secure and convenient experience for hosts and guests. Recently, the key type for door lock control such as physical key or RFID card which might cause inconveniences for user in some ways. From that scenario and technology trend, we have made progresses in project building a smart key system which provide an easier system not only for home access but also for checking-in and checking-out the booking management in hotels, building and a carefree, key-free stay would make the rental experience less stressful for user. Smart key system has four main part: mobile application, lock, gateway and server. Instead of handing out physical keys or RFID key, smartphones will be multifunction keys which have user interface to communicate with the server and the lock. To optimize power of the lock, Bluetooth low energy technology is an ideal candidate for communication of the lock with high power efficiency in mind design. The gateway is also integrated Bluetooth low energy to talk with locks and Wi-Fi module to communication with server via TCP/IP. Not only build a bridge between thelock and the server, gateway also manages surrounding locks and data transmission flow. Server, one of the most important part in our system, stores and manages data of user accounts, rooms, reservations, tracking log, shared accounts. With that design, the system allow guests grant access time when to come or to leave, control door lock, share virtual keys to another users. The host can manage the reservation, user acounts and keep track of who comes and goes with an activity log from any where, use a smart phone or a web application.en_US
