IoT, or Internet of Things, is a worldwide-recognized trend that is gaining popularity incredibly fast. The secret lies in the fact that IoT transformed a number of industries and took them to the new level, and these industries include healthcare, finances and much more. The internet of things (IoT) and industrial internet of things (IIoT) will breakout in Industrial Revolution 4.0, with organizations ramping up deployments and incorporating IoT technologies into their products, processes and workflows. It has been a true transformation. We have seen almost every industry invest in IoT, and leading industries are quickly moving to implement IoT solutions that drive the bottom line. Consumer products, like wearables and connected electronics, are certainly a large part of the market. With that huge application, application of IoT in Smart Campus would be a good idea to solve many problems in teaching, researching and learning for lecturers and students. We want to make servers for students by creating a system with hope that it will become their supporter to companion with them in the journey to conquer knowledge.
In our self-study management system, student can foreseen information about self-study places instead of traveling to each place without knowing about available seat there. In order to do that, we access to monitor cameras around self-study places, then using an embedded computer to connect to the cameras and apply Image Processing to collect data about self-study places. All of the embedded computers will communicate with each other using wireless communication standard and data will be process by a gateway to upload to server through internet. In addition, we also develop a smartphone app so that students can monitor information about self-study places and decide which place they should go by themselves in real time. Moreover, we add a service map function to our app to help student find the shortest way to areas in DUT and a reminder function allow students to setup remind time to return books to library through smartphone notification. With purpose to create an open source system, we can develop more utility for the app, making it become a business product so that it can apply not only in DUT but also in other universities in Danang and Viet Nam in the future.
