Abstract: 
Demosaicing is an important step in digital cameras and it aims to reconstruct a
full color image from a mosaic image which contains only one color at each pixel. The
first demosaicing method was proposed about forty years ago. However, it still needs
constant improvement to satisfy the requirements of modern cameras and display
devices.
In this project, we describe a new demosaicing algorithm that takes advantages of Kiku’s Method [1] and Bilateral Filter [2]. New demosaicing method is exactly the Kiku Method except the step 1 in green interpolation. Furthermore, we pay attention that we do not use the guided filter for the green interpolation in new demosaicing
method.
Up to now, we provide the overview of the Demosaicing Problem which is an
important step in digital cameras. Next, we summarize Kiku’s method one of the stateof-the-art Demosaicing Methods. Based on Kiku’s method and Bilateral Filter, we
create a new demosaicing algorithm that will show promising results. Furthermore, we
research objective criteria such as CPSNR (Cumulative Peak Signal-To-Noise Ratio),
CSSIM (Structural Similarity) [3], ZIPPER (Zipper Effect) [4] and SCIELAB [5], and use them to evaluate the proposed method and comparing it with other existing ones.
